The Legislative Decree n. 219 of 2006 implementing the European Directive 2001/83/EC on the Community Code relating to medicinal products for human use and Directive 2003/94/EC introduced a new code for human medicinal products setting forth detailed provisions on medicinals marketing authorizations, pharmaco surveillance (carried out by AIFA which keeps and updates the national data base on reverse reaction of pproducts), manufacture and clinical trials authorizations, compliance inspections, marketing and avertising practices.
